Posing, a Recent Image Published in The Smoking Jacket

Posted by:

I am shooting for Natasha Kizmets website on a regular basis and this image was one of several that Playboys Smoking Jacket has on their site.

Sometimes when shooting you can easily get stuck for a pose. You don’t want to repeat what you have done before. So what do you do?  I have a data base of images that I have collected from the web that I like and ...

To Shoot or Not to Shoot Inked Girls

Posted by:

Recently I was reading a discussion about shooting models with ink.  This falls  into the category of personal taste or for a specific project.  This image was shot and published in “Inked Girls Magazine”.  Trisha is a great model to work with and has a face of an angel. Her ink is beautiful to look at and so this worked for a specific genre of photography.  Without question she ...

Creating Mood with a Look and Prop

Posted by:

Todays post is of Mistress Alexia (stage name) shooting a hi-key image.  Choosing the right model is key in creating a mood.  Here Alexia with the look in her eye gives you “the look” that can cause you to melt. With the prop in her hand this takes on a whole new meaning.

This was shot using three heads. Two directly behind her shooting through white plexiglass.  Then a ring ...

Controlling Harsh Sunlight

Posted by:

Here is an example of controlling harsh sunlight.

Two open flash heads were placed in the bedroom to raise the level to an ambient tone to camera ...

So, I went through the set of images and found this one. So here is Natasha Kizmet holding ...

Same pose different mood

Posted by:

Recently I posted a similar pose from a different model demonstrating the “clam shell” technique for a headshot.  This is my manager Marine, and I wanted to show that you can create a different mood simply by using different light modifiers. I used a single 10 degree grid in a 7″ reflector as the main just off of camera right. To camera left I ...

Clam Shell technique

Posted by:

Here is a study using the “clam shell technique” . A beauty dish was placed above the model with a strip box below. Then for the edges I used gridded heads with quarter cto for warmth. When doing this it is very important not have the lower light soarce over power the upper. I had about 1/2 half stop lower light intensity on the bottom than the ...

Happy Posing Accident

Posted by:

The other day I was shooting Natasha Kizmet for her website and we were taking a break. I just had her twisted and contorted for the previous shot and it was towards the end of a long day. I broke my “a” camera earlier (more on this later). and we were both chatting. suddenly she shifted her leg and her hair fell just so in front of ...
